## TL;DR

**Askao pricing is credit-based. Credits are charged per tool call attempt (not per result found). Plans: Free (€0, 20 credits/month), Starter (€19/mo or €15/mo billed annually, 500 credits/month), Pro (€49/mo or €39/mo billed annually, 2,000 credits/month). Same data access on every plan — plans differ only in monthly credit volume.**

The things that matter:

1. **Pay per attempt, not per result** — a tool call is charged when it runs, whether or not it returns matching data. This differs from some enrichment APIs that only charge on a successful match.
2. **Same access on every plan** — no feature gating; Free, Starter, and Pro all reach the same tools and the same official data sources.
3. **Credits reset monthly, no rollover** — unused credits do not carry over to the next month, on any plan.
4. **Cheap by default, scales with volume requested** — most tools cost 1–5 credits per call; requesting more results from a list-style tool costs more (see §3).
5. **Checking your balance is free** — `get_credit_balance` never consumes credits.

## 1. How pricing works

1. You subscribe to a monthly credit allowance (Free, Starter, or Pro).
2. Each MCP tool call charges a fixed number of credits (§3) at the moment it runs — **charged per attempt, not per result found**. A search that returns zero matches still costs the same as one that returns results.
3. Credits **do not roll over** — the balance resets to the plan's monthly allotment on the renewal date, unused or not.
4. Any credit can be spent on any tool — there are no separate per-tool quotas.
5. `get_credit_balance` is always free and never charges credits.
6. Need more credits mid-cycle? Upgrade to a higher plan; the new monthly allotment applies going forward.

**Limit scaling**: tools above marked "scales with `limit`" accept a result-count parameter (up to 50). Base cost applies at `limit <= 10`, 2× at `limit <= 30`, 3× above that. Single-entity lookups (looking up one known tender/company by id) never scale — same flat cost regardless of response size.

## 5. Pricing FAQ

**Q: Is a tool call charged if it finds nothing?**
A: Yes. Askao charges per attempt, not per result — a `search_tenders` call with zero matches costs the same 1 credit as one with results. This is different from "pay only for found data" models some enrichment APIs use.

**Q: Do unused credits roll over?**
A: No. The balance resets to the plan's monthly allotment on the renewal date; anything unused is not carried forward.

**Q: Does a higher plan unlock more tools or more data?**
A: No. Free, Starter, and Pro all have identical access to every MCP tool and every data source. Plans differ only in the monthly credit allowance.
